About The Southern Journeymen Quartet

Your Decrees are the Theme of my Song Wherever I Journey
~ Psalms 119:54 ~

The Southern Journeymen Quartet was formed in 1968 to minister the message of salvation through Southern Gospel music and the Word. We feel that this style of music incorporates the need to know Christ as Savior, the redemptive blood of Christ, the Resurrection, the Second Coming of Christ, and Heaven…all of which offer hope and encouragement to people of all ages in all situations in life.

Each member has found purpose of life because of the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross. As a result, it is our desire to seek God’s carefully designed plan for our personal lives as well as for the quartet’s ministry.

The Southern Journeymen Quartet has been the featured quartet at the Palmdale Playhouse, The Poppy Festival, Channel 3, as well as in churches throughout the Southern and Northern California since the year 2000. The Southern Journeymen are excited as we watch God provide our every need and open “new” opportunities for year 2006.

The group consists of:

Jim Pruett singing tenor, he is the manager and original member of the group. He is a social worker and his wife Donna is a school teacher. They live in Lancaster, Calif.

Tom McGraw singing baritone. Tom was born in Biloxi, Mississippi and lives in Fontana, CA. with his wife and 2 guardian daughters that they regard as their own. Tom grew up in southern gospel music and has performed with several groups over the years, the most recent being "His Ambassadors" of Southern CA. with the Rev. Phill Colunga until his untimely departure. He has always been eager to bring the gospel of Christ to all in song and word.

dave

Dave Scheivert singing lead. He lives with his wife Sharon in Antelope Acres, Calif. Before finding Christ as his personal savior in 1990, Dave had spent twenty years as a professional entertainer. Dave has been with the group for four years. His smooth voice and musical arranging talents have helped the quartet develop better musical arrangements.

harry

Harry Sacks singing bass. Harry brings with him the experience of singing with several quartets in the Southern California area. Every gospel quartet needs a good bass sound and Harry does just that for the Southern Journeymen. Harry is self employed and lives with his wife Angie and one son in Palmdale, Calif. and is a grandfather of four.

The Southern Journeymen will sing wherever they are invited.

Singing for the Master,
Jim, Tom, Dave, and Harry
